the said Government in the capacity aforesaid for the period of three years from the date of his ceasing to act as Assistant Surveyor General.

During the said period of three years the Government shall pay to the said Francis Alfred Cooper a fixed annual salary equivalent to the salary pertaining to the Office of Assistant Surveyor General for the time being during this agreement and such further annual sum as shall be required to bring up the total amount of the annual salary of the said Francis Alfred Cooper during this agreement to the sum of Five thousand and four hundred dollars.

Such further annual sum so required as aforesaid shall be and shall be charged as a personal allowance on the provisional and temporary establishment and shall not be calculated in the ascertainment of any pension which may hereafter be granted to the said Francis Alfred Cooper. The said Francis Alfred Cooper shall be entitled to chair and other allowances for himself and staff, according to the scale of such allowances in force for similar Officers in the Surveyor General's department.

The Government shall provide the said Francis Alfred Cooper with Office accommodation, instruments, drawing materials, and such clerical and professional assistance, as shall in the opinion of the Governor be necessary for the due execution of the works, for the custody of stores in his charge or for due rendering accounts of all public moneys expended in works carried out under his direction, the cost of such clerical and professional assistance being included in the cost of the works.
